High School Youth Ministries

A new school year means the start of a new chapter for High School youth! Our goal is to provide a time for our high school youth to come together for faith talks, fellowship, friends, food, and fun! High Schoolers are welcome to come and be themselves in an open, loving environment in order to foster faith growth and get some "down time" amidst their busy schedules! See below for opportunities for our HS youth:

• Wednesday HS Fellowship (HSF): Beginning Wednesday, October 2nd, HS youth are invited to come to church and connect with other youth in the Living Room between 6:45-7:15. From 7:20-8:00 pm, HS youth will be helping with Confirmation small groups at Jr. Guides (see more info below). This is a great way to grow in your leadership, faith and friendships!
• Sleep Out for Homelessness: A yearly overnight event for grades 9-12 to raise awareness for homelessness. We do this event each fall - watch your email for specific dates! Here is event info from our Sleep Out on 11/9/24:
  • Bring shelter supplies (large cardboard boxes or a tent) to camp out on the church lawn overnight; along with sleeping bag, etc to stay warm in the cold!
  • This event is free - pizza, snacks and breakfast food will be covered by our general budget. Donations are always welcome!
  • Youth are encouraged to bring donations of food, clothing and/or hygiene products (which will be brought to Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners in Plymouth after the event). Monetary donations are also accepted and will go to IOCP to help with housing issues. 
  • This overnight event is for LOC youth only. If you do not have a liability/release form on file, one will be sent to you after you register. Thank you!
• Friday Night Lights (FNL): A fellowship event once/month for friends to hang out, play games, have pizza and lots of fun! 
  • Takes place once a month on a Friday during the school year. Watch here and your email for specific dates!
  • Our next FNL is December 6th!
  • Time = 7:00 - 10:00 pm
  • Sign up by 4 pm the day of the event so we know how much pizza to order!
  • Bring $5 to help cover the cost of food. And friends are always welcome!
• Junior Guides for Confirmation: HS youth (grades 10-12) are invited/encouraged to help with our 7th-9th grade Confirmation ministry!
  • Meet in the Living Room at 6:45 pm to connect with other HS youth - share highs and lows and hang out for a bit before going to Confirmation small groups
  • Work with the adult Guides to help lead a Confirmation small group from 7:25-8:00 pm.
  • These youth make friendships with the younger youth, participate in small group conversation and lead by example. It's a great way to get connected and develop leadership!
  • No one can make it ever time... youth attend when they can!
• Special Events - A few times throughout the year we will have other fun events on and off-site. Things like laser tag, cosmic bowling, sledding or a ski trip. Contact Kirsten for more info and watch your email!
• Service Events - We will also provide several times throughout the year when we will serve together. Some past events have included assembling Graduate Care Packages, writing Random Acts of Kindness notes (for our congregation and those at local nursing homes), participating in the Sleep Out for Homelessness or packing meals at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC).
